Indo-US nuclear deal risks collapse: report- Hindustan Times
The UPA Government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh simply doesn't fully understand how we work in the Western Countries. Once the law was passed by the Congress of the United States and signed by President Bush, it is unlikely that any amendments will follow in near future no matter what the final outcome may be of Indo-US discussions on this matter. Foreign Policy experts were advising the UPA Government that this agreement is not in India's interest because it will adversely affect India's ability to emerge as a Superpower in many decades to come.
Now there is a serious concern on the part of experts in the US that the deal may collapse. The difference between the Manmohan-Bush agreement and the final law are so significant that making concessions will ultimately result in harming the long-term interests of the country which makes these concessions.
Let us hope that this whole issue stays in the cold bag till 2008 Presidential elections in the US.
