India fails in Asian Games bid, Aiyar blamed

India fails in Asian Games bid, Aiyar blamed

Another feather in UPA Government's cap. It is very disappointing that India missed a great opportunity to host Asian Games in 2014. Whether it is the Prime Minister or the Finance Minister or any other member of his cabinet, they all seem to be running independent personal government of their own. We have seen how the Health Minister Ramdoss has considered AIIMS his personal property. This is sad because the Honourable Prime Minister does not have the will power and the capacity to control members of his own Cabinet. It is not in the long term interests of India to have this poor level of governance at the Central level. It was horrible for the Sports Minister (Mani Shankar Aiyar) to say, " whether you hold the Commonwealth Games in Delhi or Melbourne, it makes no difference to the state of those living in the colonies opposite the stadium. In the case of Delhi, the reference could be to the slums on Yamuna bunds." Mani Shankar Aiyar has done it before in August 2004 when he showed disrespect to freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. I have always believe that a sound democracy has the natural power to correct its own ills. These examples of this power vested in sound democratic systems are many not only in India but around the world.
