US launches campaign for more foreign investment - Yahoo! News

We should expect real change in this regard only after 2008 US Presidential elections. Bush administration has not paid enough attention to America's long term strategic financial interests. We have been living by the notion that American companies are going to continue to dominate the world marketplace. The fact of the matter is that the companies do not necessarily have nationalities. Businesses work in their own interest. For example, if an American company heavily invests in China & India, few years from now it will be knows as an Indian or Chinese company. Corporate governance cannot be based on a company's origin. If you live in a country and do business there, sooner or later you will have to adept to living and doing business there. With the passage of time, nation origin of a company will slowly disappear.

"Treasury figures showed the number of Americans employed by foreign firms declined from 5.7 million in 2000 or 5.1 percent of the private sector workforce, to 5.1 million, or 4.7 percent in 2005." This a warning signal for the future of America. The talent pool is increasingly becoming diverse. American kids would have to work hard to keep their country competitive. India and China are teaching their students about US and other Western economies. We, in the US, are still teaching our kids European History. American kids need to learn more about other countries and focus more time on core studies such as engineering, math, biology and medicine instead of debating abortion, stem cells research and gay rights. Values or as we call them "Sanskars" come from the family and upbringing not from the government or the courts. We need to start paying more attention to kids and what principles they believe in.

As we are learning now that there was no real debate in the Bush administration prior to Iraq war and still not one person in the administration resigned on moral grounds or in the interest of the country. This is a vivid example of how values and principles are slowly disappearing from our society. We might become a society without "values" or "ethics" someday.
