Apex court to rule on all reservations - livemint

The legal fight over OBC quota is nearing its outcome. As Honourable Mr. Justice Arijit Pasayat outlined, there are four issues at the heart of matter being considered by the Honourable Court : -

(1) Is reservation the only mode for affirmative action?

(2) If yes, is caste the main criterion or is it economic (status)?

(3) How long will reservations go on? and,

(4) The slippery creamy layer (rich OBCs who don’t really need reservation).

With all due respect to the Honourable Court, it is not the time to make speculation about the outcome of the case. However, one can fairly assume that the decision in this case will prove to be a turning point for (a) development of Constitutional Law in free India, and (b) future of affirmative action or use(abuse) of affirmative action for political gains.
